It is a little-known fact that the Mexican mosaic actually dates back to the 15th century AD. In this period the Aztecs ruled great parts of Mexico. The Aztec religion included worship of the plumed serpent Quetzalcoatl, the god of wind and learning. As you can see from the photo the Aztecs already created beautiful pieces of mozaic.
